Nexus One

Back at the CES Consumer Electronic Show, in January Google announced the Arrival of the Nexus One aka a Google phone.

The Nexus One ( N1) is built by HTC. HTC or High Tech Computer  communication is a Taiwanese Mobile phone company specialising in smartphone. They have been producing phone for a while most until recently have been using the Window of Microsoft operating system. Recently they have developed phone to utilise the Google mobile operating system Android.

Fact: The first Android Phone T mobile T1, which was released ( well within the uk) was a rebranded   HTC phone.

 

Well back to present day.

Google have now decided to add their name to phone. And it is the Nexus One. One again produced by HTC.

Well Currently the Nexus One can only be purchased from directly from Google only.  Currently it is $529 Sim Free as can be seen at this buy Nexus one link. using http://www.xe.com/ Currency exchange this amount to about 389 Euros or £347. (at the moment).

Well it is cheaper if you buy with a contract, but currently this is only available in the USA. Look at the buy link above.

So what about us in Europe. Well we can pay the sim free price if you really want to have this phone asap.
Goolge have intended to release it during March. However it is more likely that the release with a contracted hopefully until April. It will be on the Vodafone Network.

Note although the Nexus is coming very soon, is it value for money as HTC have released the Desire and Legend.

Well, This all depends on the various deals yet to be released. So it a wait and see, but do we have a whold lot of options.

Chrome Vs Firefox.

I finally downloaded Chrome. I am very impressed!! Really I am very impressed. It is very fast and quick to load up. Well done Google. Hopefully google will release a full non beta version soon. So it will be a while before I run Internet Explorer.

I find even Explorer 8 a bit slow.

Also I have downloaded the new firefox system 3.6. It seem a lot quicker then the older version that I used.But the most interesting fact about this program is that I downloaded it form a yahoo search and the default search engine is yahoo.

Yahoo doogle???

I don't know if this is the correct term. Google have been know to animate or alter their logo to celebrate events see the blog http://www.googlefrontanimation.blogspot.com/. On a recent visit to the yahoo home page I found a new animation that yahoo are doing today. I have no Idea if yahoo have ever done it before, but here is it if you missed it.

Well it is an animation and I have managed to capture it using the CaptureWiz program that I am currently using. I have described this program in my blog about Mindmapping. Here is the link where I downloaded the program. CaptureWizPro.

What I have been doing??

Well all I have good new. I have passed my Phase 1 Medical exams here in University. After a week of celebrating I have come back with a bang to earth.

Phase 2 and the world of working in a hospital begins soon.
Also ~I have started another blog, related to the last post of Google Doogles. I have been a bit busy on this as currently google are celebrating the winter olympics by varying their front page google logo to celebrate the event

Goggle 4 Doddle

Clickvhere.Over the years that I have been using Google, they have marked the days by creative Doddle ( Goolge Front page GIF)

Currently they are celebrating the winter olympics in Vancouver.

And most notable on the 4th of January the Celebrated Newtons Birthday with there first ever mass Animated motion GIF. and apple falling of a Branch. Here is a still that I have been able to find of that Gif.

Internet Browsers.

There is wide variety of internet browser one can use. The main stay are Firefox, and Microsoft internet explore.
Over the last six months Goggle has launched it own browser called Chrome.

I have used Firefox for about 4 years nows and until recently have found it very capable. however as I have previously stated it has been slowing down quite recently and freezing and failing. To such an extent that I have recent found myself using Microsoft Internet Explorer.

However Microsoft Explorer, isn't perfect. It may start up quicker then Firefox at the moment, but it does freeze and has a very twitch feel. But because of the fact that it loads pages faster I have used it for the last few week.I have used it Bing search engine a lot recently as well. I have enjoyed it using it but I have had to revert back to using goggle for searching images. Also I have not been able to install Yahoo as a possible search engine in Internet explorer.

I have yet to retry Opera, I didn't really fine it to useful when I first tried it a year back. But Opera Mini, for mobile browsing is apparently excellent. I havent got a Smart phone at the moment so I cant comment for now.

Google Chrome was released out a while back (Second half of 09). I have been slow in checking it out as it is still in beta mode for the moment. Also I have been doing exams all this month and have not wanted to risk the health of my Laptop. But Exams are over and I have passed, so I will go and try this and key you informed.

What is in a day.

This year Feburary the 14th fell on a Sunday. This day is famous the world over as it is Know as Valintines days. Where people sent cards and try to be all romatic..For most this envolves getting a box of chocolates, a bunch of flowers and even for some a meal out.

For poor student, If your luckly to have an other half ( note not a ball and chain), cost may creep up and what one requires is a home cooked dinner..

This year however Feb the 14th also coincides with the Chinese New Year. The Year of the Tiger!
So Happy Chinese New Year too.
